The Story

good_close_up.jpg Turn it Up & Lay is down is the result of a lifetime of playing along. Man, I've played with The Beatles, Billy Joel, Chicago, Earth Wind and Fire, Journey, Genesis, Rush, Simon and Garfunkel, James Taylor, Chick Corea, Toto, George Benson, James Brown, Santana, Garth brooks, Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovette, Creed, 311, Tool, Bob Marley, Buddy Rich and a slew of other great bands and artists. Fact is I've played along with just about everyone from ABBA to ZAPPA (Thanks to a lot of phenomenal recordings , a stereo system with a big set of speakers and very supportive parents!).

Being able to practice along with my favorite artists and drummers helped me develop the skills that have made me a working drummer. And with the guidance of some great teachers and some fantastic musicians, I've learned priceless " working drummers" lessons... lessons that I incorporate into my gigging to this day and lessons that led to the development of the Turn it Up... series. Time, feel, taste, versatility, creativity and groove, those are what makes A Gadd a God.

Here at DrumFun we've given drummers of all skill levels a fantastic tool for learning how to become well-rounded, successful musicians. Playing along with the bass lines of volumes 1 and 2 and the tracks from 3, 4 , 5 & 6 is the best way we know how to develop these key "working drummer" qualities- and hone your own distinctive style and sound- that will make you a valued member of any band.

Most importantly, have fun! Sure there’s a lot of hard work involved, but there’s an incredible amount of joy and fulfillment to gain from it. It’s my opinion that there are few feelings in life that compare to the rush one gets from drumming, whether onstage in front of a crowd, listening back to that great take in the recording studio, or just being alone in the practice room, losing yourself in the groove.

Now go practice!
